I like clean logs, I dont like wasted traffic, even if it is small. We consistently see Cisco/Linksys routers requesting their DHCP IP over and over and over
The customers have service, but its just constantly requesting So I threw a sniffer on todat and see this in the packet: Parameter Request List Item: (1) Subnet Mask Parameter Request List Item: (3) Router Parameter Request List Item: (15) Domain Name Parameter Request List Item: (6) Domain Name Server Parameter Request List Item: (212) 6RD Option 212 we dont respond with. So if a DHCP client requests a set of options, and one is not delivered, will it just keep asking, as is what we see? Without telling a customer to turn off IP6 or moving to IP6 on our network, is there any way to clean up these logs? Or is that even the root cause of this issue? -- All parts should go together without forcing. You must remember that the parts you are reassembling were disassembled by you. Therefore, if you can't get them together again, there must be a reason. By all means, do not use a hammer. -- IBM maintenance manual, 1925
