To add to this, not at 350 E. Cermak, but Cyber just joined up with some
fellow WISPA folks at 56 Marietta in Atlana. We have a one gig transport back
to a site that I know at least Faisal and Rodger Lewis use. Rodger has fiber
in some areas in college towns in FL ; I'm pretty sure he gets a good bit of
usage (he's Velocity Online)

Agreed. We already have ~1/3 cabinet, maybe more (not sure what was agreed
upon) available. Makes sense to work together where we can to save on extra
cross connects (though I can get them for $175), rack space, etc.

Makes sense to pool resources where we can. I know a couple WISP friendly
networks are hitting up most of the major IXes in the country. One was talking
a fairly low rate ($0.25/meg, IIRC) for access to all peering they had.

Also, lots of people seem really excited about buying HE when HE's customers
are available for free on the exchanges. Cogent has a big network, but use them
for customer routes only as well. Save your money and buy from a web host that
probably has a mix of Level 3, NTT, GTT, Tiscali, etc. Much better use of your
money than the others. That's where aggregated purchasing, shared
rackspace\crossconnects, etc. comes in handy. Get a wide portfolio of
connectivity for your buck.

I think it makes sense if people talk before deploying new cabinets and
upstreams, instead of throwing money away. just my opinion....

Gerard are you guys in the Server Central Cage? I know CTI has cabinets
there. From a transport port perspective, some of us are thinking of
x-connecting to Server Central.

We're there. Still working on getting the exchange port turned up though.
We'll be at the fispa, animal farm, and wispamerica shows if anyone wants to
talk.

There is some grouping happening now, but no great love fest yet.

Hoping to get the rest hashed out at WISPAmerica.

I got too busy to keep organizing things and in the meantime, not a lot
of traction has been made (no blaming going on, WISPs are hard to organize and
usually avoid\disagree with lawyers). In the meantime, a few of us have just
gone there anyway.

I have been looking into it, getting transport quotes etc, but the lack
of response from the wispa appointed coordinator leaves me wondering what
exactly im plugging into there.

Are you guys all just getting your own rack space and peering connections
or is there some group actually sharing facilities currently?
