Man beat me to it lol. Does powering one with a grounded PoE - say Ubiquiti for
sake of argument protect the entire router though?

Subject: Re: [AFMUG] RB750UP and Grounding

I could, but I don't see a multimeter and an RB750UP that I can reach without
getting out of my chair... so that would be a problem :P

What would I need to check though? if I remember correctly, the shielding on
the RJ45 ports is connected to ground, but there's not an actual grounding
point of any sort since it's just a plastic case... I usually power them
through the POE in port and connect the shield to ground on the power supply,
so it is at least grounded that way.

You could just bust out the multimeter and check it =P

They do have shielded RJ45 ports (only on the UP). but yeah, I don't think
there is any real surge protection... that said, we use them all over the place
and it hasn't really been a problem.

Assuming you're using the RB750UP for POE and NOT the poe injectors? IIRC
they're plastic so it can't be shielded...

Do you lose the surge protection of the Ubiquiti and Cambium PoE injectors when
switching over the RB750UP? I see the switch has shielded jacks but I hardly
want to create a problem by losing the surge protection attributes.
