I don’t think you can yet. They are still limited to 64QAM.
I certainly can't yet because I'm stuck with wimax due to a lot of old
CPE in the field. I do look forward to the day when we get to load the
LTE firmware.
Correct me if I'm wrong here Patrick:
64QAM5/6 = 5bits/hz.
20mhz channel * 5bits/hz = 100meg.
Dual carrier = 40mhz which is where the 200 meg comes from.
(1) That's raw physical layer data though, right? How much is lost in
overhead? Or put another way, what will my layer3 payload be?
(2) Since we have to duplex this 100meg, what DL/UL ratios are supported?
(3) That's using 4/5ths of the (current) 3.65 band. Depending on how
the NPRM comes out we may get more, but right now we have 50mhz to work
with. Is there a channel re-use plan where I can keep using that 40mhz
over and over, or will I be limited to one of these 40mhz base stations
in a geographic area? Or are we banking on the new rules giving us more
spectrum to make this feasible?
(4) If I happen to overlap with other operators in 3.65ghz, how well can
we coexist? With GPS sync can we get our LTE and another company's
Wimax right next to each other? What if the other guy is using
something like Ubiquiti or Ligowave that isn't synchronized with
anything....how bad will we clobber each other?
(5) You've said earlier that MU-MIMO will double capacity again to get
us to 400meg. I don't know enough about it to agree or disagree with
that claim. I have a pretty good notion of what spread of QAM rates
we'll get, but not really any idea how to consider MU-MIMO in capacity
planning. While I'm sure it's possible to demonstrate a doubling of
speed in a test range, is it /realistic/ to assume I'll really get
double capacity?
If you're greeted with skepticism when you throw out a number like 400
meg, it's probably because people have these sorts of questions in their
mind. The class is listening if you'd care to educate us.
Again, more incorrect assumptions. It really is easy to get good,
accurate information. One only needs to ask.

But if you can do 200/400Mb/s out of one sector wouldn't it be
worth it?

Base station costs too much... $8-10k per sector, CPE's aren't bad

Ha, that's laughable. From a very specific vendor and/or some ISPs
who have committed to their system I'm guessing? ;-)
