I usually set them all the same, otherwise people can't seem to figure it out.
Using Linksys and range extenders are generally seemless. Using whatever happens to be there may be a pain in the butt. I use hardware I choose or I walk away. I've tried to do it with cobbled together stuff and I won't do it anymore. ----- Original Message ----- From: TJ Trout To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, February 28, 2015 8:17 PM Subject: Re: [AFMUG] Multiple AP in house Only set the same ssid if they are all ubnt devices and then enable the minimum signal level to like -80 so it will kick them off and force them to roam to another ap. Otherwise you end up connected to the ap with the least signal while sitting right next to a different ap. If not then you need to just name them all differently. This still won't solve that issue but if you educate the customer they can manually switch aps. Best solution is mesh or unifi or minimum a ap that will disconnect the client at a set signal like ubiquiti On Feb 28, 2015 5:39 PM, "Josh Luthman" <[email protected]> wrote: We've generally done one SSID with success. Looks like we have one wireless router and 4 AP scattered around the house. I'm going over there on Monday to try to see if I can get these configured so they are not stepping on each other. Trying to figure out if I want to name all the SSID's to be the same or name them differently.
