Good plan except for the vertical adjustment.  I was thinking Gorilla Glue or 
Loctite.

The ball socket bracket still sucks. I actually used an MTI mount on the last 
two I mounted, actually had to bolt half the ARC mount to half on an MTI mount 
and that has worked really well. Will post a pic of this later tonight to the 
list with an AF5X on the ARC panel.
