My understanding is that Optima came in two types (in each color).  One (darker 
case) was for starting (CCA) and the lighter gray was for runtime (AH)

I know we have run both colors (in deep cycle mode) for several years and had 
decent results.  We started building battery boxes for our towers 4 years ago 
and haven’t replaced a battery yet, using only the Optima Deep cycle versions  
(and, yes they get used a lot in Florida)

But, we had used Yellow and Blue tops deep cycle and I cant recall why ☺

Those are CCA batteries.  You want AH batteries.  I wouldn't spend my money on 
Optima...
