That's exactly what I'm looking at. If I did 48 count down a country
road, I won't need more fibers during my lifetime. So it's probably
going to be ADSS or figure-8. In town it seems like you'd be crazy not
to lash on a separate messenger strand.
Your idea of buying somebody else's scraps might not be crazy for some
of these situations. Where do you get them? Ebay?

Depends on the situation. I just installed enough fiber that I won't
need to upgrade it. Plus, the cost savings were big enough it was
definitely the way to go.

Depends on the engineering, max span length, etc. If you lash,
you can always overlash something else. I wouldn't do ADSS,
Windstream techs around here are complaining about it because they
can't upgrade it.

It's about $60 or so per pole if you're using dead ends IIRC,
about half that if you can use trunnions.

Well....the first vendor I talked to thought ADSS would
actually cost more by the time you got all the hardware.
I'm not sure if he's crazy yet.
Why did you decide on figure 8 vs ADSS? I've gotten 48ct
ADSS for around $.50/ft a few years ago. Generally
speaking, the shorter the length of the spool the cheaper
you can get it per foot. Would be worth checking with
Telecom Surplus Resources. They might be able to find
something depending on what length you need.

What should I expect to pay for a 48 count figure-8

Whose your favorite vendor for that?
