Chuck, That is the most popular, never recorded (on an album) tune that M.F. played. I kinda thought it was a bit cheezy for Maynard's jazz abilities, but it was a season when he did a LOT of covers, and did them all pretty well, from James Taylor to the Beatles,
Personally, I haven't played much in the past two months... too busy playing whack-a-mole with tower lightning hits, LOL. Just picked up the horn last night for the 1st time in a few weeks. Give me a week or two to get things "flowing" again and I will give it a shot. FYI, the second trumpeter in the section (from the left) is a friend of mine (Lynn Nicholson) who only played a couple a years with Maynard (and Bill Chase) and can still play the mess out of high notes. Maynard featured him a lot for two years in the early 70's.
