Propane is used for two primary reasons. (1) Propane has an indefinite storage period, (2) Engines typically run cleaner (carbs don't gum up, and emissions are generally lower).

Propane only has about 80% of the energy value of regular gasoline, so you should de-rate the expected output appropriately.

You run propane so you don’t have to worry about gas gumming up the carb?

We have Yamaha and Honda 1000 inverter generators all converted to propane. They work great and will run over 24 hours on one small BBQ sized tank.
