I think you're right, it comes down to grown ups have things to do other
than play 15 hours out of the day.
Practice practice practice.
Back in my LAN party days I would often play some of the games online. I
didn't play every day but I played enough that I could hold my own
against the hardcore players. Eventually I noticed taking that back to
LAN party weekends made me the guy owning everyone else who didn't play
nearly as much as I did. After a while you get used to the game's
mechanics and can predict things.
Nowadays I don't have time to play daily and I haven't played online in
years.
