i should point out a lot of this nightmare is actually deeply rooted in facts:
* one of our techs did recently get sideswiped and we had to get his van fixed (it wasn't his fault) * while driving with some partners recently we came across a site that we swore was two physical towers (even the google maps data showed two towers) ; yet they were gone and one largish celltype tower was now there - looks very new (self supporting vs. guyed). when i looked at who owned it, it was a county organization. lol. * we did do quite a bit of our tower work in the late evening / early morning hours, usually without any daylight * lots of our early mapping was actually done with terraserver * we do actually have a tower where one whole side is "dead", but it's because of a lack of frequency reuse / available frequencies, probably due to towers nearby - but it's not cause it's in the same parking lot lol * we do in fact have an area where a nearby tower has been a suspect of a problem for quite some time.. it is near the above tower, but we have basically confirmed it is NOT the problem.... ----- Original Message ----- From: CBB - Jay Fuller To: [email protected] ; [email protected] ; Principal WISPA Member List Sent: Friday, November 27, 2015 9:40 AM Subject: my weird tower nightmare..... so, in the early days of our company, we did quite a bit of work (even tower work) in the late night hours into the early morning hours. it was quite often dark. so...in my dream, i'm out several years later actually trying to do tower audits. i'm trying to find towers we are on and one location that i think is a tower is actually a data center now (with no tower). i'm quite confused - explaining to the construction crew who just finished the data center that there is supposed to be a tower there....and it's got to be there cause there aren't any alerts coming in. so the next day i'm out with half of our crew....and we actually find the tower. but it's literally in a parking lot with another tower that we are also on - but i think that tower is five miles away (per our documentation). in fact, it explains why one whole side of the tower is useless - because of interference from the other tower. we're all just in shock. i'm explaining to everyone else on our team that look man, when we started this company, i was using a flipphone and a blackberry, and we used something like terrserver for gps coordinates, and i can't believe this happened. we were so upset (but also pretty happy to have figure it out) we actually wrecked the van on the way back from the site....and theres where the dream ended.... wow. : /
