Bus kid, first on, last off. About a 90 minute ride. Once it got stuck in the
snow. Driver had me and one other kid walk a couple of miles through snow
through a field to a farm house to get help. Driver stayed with the bus and
the handful of kids. School principle showed up about an hour later with a
pickup to get the bus unstuck. He gave the two of us a day off of school.
That was a good day indeed.

I don’t think you would see a couple of 11 year olds get sent for help
now-a-days.

But I had to walk 3 miles to school. Through the snow. Uphill, both ways.

I believe it. My parents had an 8-way party line until sometime around 1970.

When I was a kid, our telephone service was delivered by one of these. We
didn’t get dial service until June of 1964.
