Storms aside, I do find microwave stuff runs better or at least more
consistently in winter. Less fading due to rain, ducting, crops. The old time
telco microwave folks referred to summer as “fading season”. I know that
because I worked for a telco equipment manufacturer, and we were told not to
expect certain customers to field trial anything during fading season because
it was all hands on deck to keep the long haul network running. Luckily fiber
pretty much doesn’t care about the weather.

On a hot August day with lush row crops in the fields, you can’t see the tower
through binoculars due to heat distortion, and mirages make it look like there
is water on the blacktop roads. I have to believe this affects RF, not just
light.

We once had a customer tell us that their service was running better than his
office internet.....although it was coming from the same DSL connection that
the guy had in his office. He had the tower.

Perception ? Hmm...
