Storms aside, I do find microwave stuff runs better or at least more consistently in winter. Less fading due to rain, ducting, crops. The old time telco microwave folks referred to summer as “fading season”. I know that because I worked for a telco equipment manufacturer, and we were told not to expect certain customers to field trial anything during fading season because it was all hands on deck to keep the long haul network running. Luckily fiber pretty much doesn’t care about the weather.
On a hot August day with lush row crops in the fields, you can’t see the tower through binoculars due to heat distortion, and mirages make it look like there is water on the blacktop roads. I have to believe this affects RF, not just light.
