I haven't seen this happen on any SMs so far, but on the APs, one of the symptoms is that they'll completely lose management access (no ping, http, ssh... nothing), but they may or may not still pass traffic fine. Rebooting them has always brought them back up temporarily. If you can't access it after a reboot, there's likely something else going on.
