We have done both very large scale to just single deployments with the
EPmp hotspot units.
There are few settings by default that we always set before deployments
and they are setting the
Preamble mode to long only and set the auto channel scan to periodically
and QOS is a must as well along with client isolation.
We find these setting to be optimal when demand is high.

That's the end goal, yes. In my experience, ePMP AP WiFi mode doesn't
work at all. I haven't tried doing ePMP CPE on a WiFi device as I'd
have to turn off Airmax, which I don't think I want to do even short
term. At this point I'm running both the old and new APs in parallel
moving customers slowly.
