I think  you understood the question fine - the issue with having anything 
other than a 450i SM to be able to use the 5.1 and 2 bands is the problem.   
The selection of SM’s available to use in 5.1/2 is currently limited to only 
the much higher priced 450i SM’s.   

Is Cambium planning on releasing or updating the ‘commodity’ priced 450SM to 
use the full frequency range of the AP or not?

Or put another way - the current 450I SM’s are simply license restricted 
versions of the AP, rather than a dedicated SM.   This makes the cost of the SM 
high due to the rugged case, high end CPU, timing hardware, extra memory, etc.  
 Will there be a stripped down SM capable of operating in 5.1/2 to make those 
bands (and therefor the 450i AP’s) more competitive and useful?
