Mail Enable now has MAPI conection as well, so outlook syncs just like with an
exchange server..

Are you running separate AD server(s)? secondary exchange servers? Separate
physical servers (or VMs on separate servers) ?

Looking at resource issues vs. overall benefit plus Total Cost of Ownership,
including licenses and support costs, etc.

We have a simple SBS on a VM that uses 20GB of RAM. With SBS gone away, its
back to the old days, with separate "boxes" for everything. Sigh.

Something like Zentyal might be worth considering if it works well in the real
world.

More Exchange. We just installed Exchange 2012. Looking to update to 2016
this year.

Our Microsoft Small Business server 2011 is getting “long in the tooth” and my
Unix guys are expressing the desire to explore other options.

I have grown accustom to MS servers, even though they can be a resource hog.
I use Touchdown client with my Android phone and “if just works”

I don’t want to do a cloud based replacement per se. Not comfortable with my
entire business email system, etc. being out in the world.

Soooo…. What have you guys moved to for an Exchange type alternative?

Paul
