Not in this article, which seeks to hammer home a definitive opinion, but many others question a LOT of the data gathering methods used on a worldwide basis and things “could” be skewed just in those methods that are now being “refined” because of the extra “awareness” created of global warming in general.
A little bit of “are you sure” in these paragraphs alone… again in an article seemingly trying to be definitive. The latest record means that 2014 — the previous record year — only officially held<https://www.nasa.gov/press/2015/january/nasa-determines-2014-warmest-year-in-modern-record> that title for one year. 2014 came by its record by a relatively narrow margin — for instance, NASA gave 2014<http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/briefings/201501.pdf> a 38 percent chance (huh?) of having been the warmest year on record, still reserving a nontrivial chance that the real warmest year had been 2010 or 2005. (NOAA gave a 48 percent chance that 2014 had, at the time, been the warmest year.) (huh?) This year, in contrast, there is little need for citing percentages or a statistical photo finish. Buoyed by a powerful El Niño event, 2015 shattered the 2014 record. NASA’s Schmidt suggests there is only a 5 percent possibility that any other year on record was actually warmer. Huh? In reality, we need to be good stewards of the earth in all ways, including reducing emissions and poisons which have a far greater impact that just the potential warming of the planets. I think awareness in general is a very good thing. It’s funny though… a lot of the global warming extremists seem like thy actually have control of what the earth is going to do. In 2004, almost every expert predicted that the heavy hurricane season that pounded Florida would “now be like this for the rest of civilization” because of this or that reason. By the grace of God only, do we get to exist where every day is an uncertainty.
