I have the 1000i with the extended run fuel tank and it has earned its keep. Don't compare price to non inverter generators which don't put out clean power.

One thing I do worry about is the manual tells you to change the oil very often, I think it's something like every 20 hours of runtime. Obviously when I drop it at a site with the extended run tank and leave it for 4 days, I'm not doing that. Also remember to check the vent in the cap is in the correct position, or it will run for an hour or so and shut off due to vacuum (this is how it draws fuel from the external tank).

I will say that during a recent storm with widespread power outages, I dropped my Yamaha 2800 at one site, then took the little Honda to another where we have been adding licensed links and now draws 450 watts. And the Alpha FXM1100 was set to charge the 48V battery string with 10A, so the total power draw was right at 1000 watts. The small Honda would run for about a minute and then trip on overload. After changing the UPS to charge the batteries at 8A, it ran fine for 2 days until power came back on. So the EU2000i would probably give you more margin for big sites. On the other hand, the smaller generator will be more fuel efficient at small sites.

The Honda is quieter than my other generators, if you care.

Subject: [AFMUG] Honda EU2000i - worth the price?

I've heard good things about the Honda EU2000i generator, but it seems
pretty pricey in $/VA.

Is it worth it?
