Exactly - you would not want to use NBaseT up a tower or on a rooftop, its best use case is existing cat5e/cat6 to ceiling mounted wifi access points that could exceed the limits of 1000BaseT...
With current generation wifi stuff it's still hard to do that, a 5 GHz, 80 MHz wide channel size, 802.11ac 2x2 MIMO AP will not get near 1Gbps throughput (yet), though it might come close. If a single AP has multiple radios like expensive Xirrus products, and one copper network port, there's your use case. It won't really become an issue until NBaseT switches start shipping at prices that are *anywhere* competitive with current 1000BaseT products (They're 5-6x more expensive at the moment), and 802.11ax products show up. In a compact office with close range 5 GHz APs you can absolutely achieve -51 RSL on laptops/tablets with decent sized antennas, which will allow for use of 1024QAM in 80 MHz wide channels. For everything else: SINGLEMODE EVERYWHERE. When I see people buying OM4 multimode related products for riser/office/MDU use I just shake my head.
