I changed our corporate domain name once (really long to a new really short one) so I went in and started editing POC records. They though the corp/org was changing ownership. I had to explain that it was simply the domain name and not the organization changing. Then they were cool with it.

Here's what I got in response before explaining what I was trying to do:

Hello George,

Thank you for submitting the Edit Billing Contact information. In review of the request it appears that there has been an organizational change. Please advise what the relationship is between the two organizations. Please also refer to our Transfer Policy and provide information how to go about making the appropriate changes to the registration.

Changes resulting in a merger, acquisition or re-organization (including adding a D/B/A or Wholly Owned Entity), your organization will need to initiate a Transfer or Name Change Request with ARIN.
A handy step-by-step guide on requesting a resource transfer is found at:

https://www.arin.net/resources/transfers/index.html

To submit a transfer request:

1) Create an ARIN Online account

2) Once logged-in, click on WEB ACCOUNT and create an API key

3) Grab the new transfer template, found at:

https://www.arin.net/resources/templates/transfer.txt

4) Fill it out, ensuring to put your new API key in field 00.

I'm on a few ARIN mailing lists. They really seem to go out of their way (more than they probably should) to help people.

Maybe I'm confusing them with the government.

Ken,
Short answer is yes, we did something similar..

The best advice I can offer you is to call ARIN and speak to one of their
folks.
You will be pleasantly surprised.

Their mission is to make things work for you, as specified by the framework
of ARIN as an organization.

They are not the owners of IP's, but an organization belonging to the
members, and as such there are
there to serve the members.

If you have been paying your dues, then you are a member !

Nothing to fear, they cannot simply take stuff away....
