Eh, I preferred LAN parties on a much smaller scale where everyone present was playing in the same game. 16 was ideal with 8v8 teams. We knew everyone's strengths and weaknesses to seat teams together. We outfitted a friend's garage with dedicated power and network drops. When everyone knows each other calling names and yelling across the garage at someone was always in good fun without worrying about offending anyone. There was even a small server room that held the LAN dedicated Lunix servers to host the games we played.
Coming from that I find the massive ones are too much like a bunch of people playing different games online in the same room.
