As much programming they are doing to control this, I imagine a "launch
mode".. Shoots you off the ground to 50 feet. This sort of device
suffers from self ingestion problems when hovering close to the ground,
observe the grid they launch off of. No problem iff you immediately
start moving up or sideways. So there could be a ground movement mode
that requires horizontal movement and keeps you 2-3 feet off ground.
If you immediately zoom to 50 feet that gets you to where a BRS chute
can save you.

Perhaps if you always launch off the top of a 50 foot platform.

The issue is coming up with a way for a personal BRS product. BRS has
saves as low as 50 feet http://brsparachutes.com/lives_saved.aspx

So that makes it a matter of getting off the ground and then up to a
"safe" altitude...

I understand there a minimum height where a parachute won't deploy. I imagine if you're 200 feet above ground or water and you fall off of that thing you're in a lot of trouble.

Doesn't it only work over water?
