It will record 4 different real time programs simultaneously.

I didn't see where you had to pay for the mini's in terms of a subscription...
I would probably jump all over this if I felt I'd actually use it... lol

If you find CNBC, could i set, say, the tivo to record say, mad money, at a
certain time via streaming?

I know you can run it as whole house DVR. Not sure if it is the mini or what
that you use for the other locations.
I don’t believe there is any extra fee, but have not got that far yet.

I see it works with tivo mini - which i just googled. Can you run one tivo
roamio and say three tivo minis and your whole family stream off the main box?
Would there be an extra fee?

(yes i read through the website but it is 2 in the morning, too)

No, it just has a Hulu client inside and Netflix, Amazon, Vudu, YouTube and
a bunch more.

So Hulu is FREE? Or is it HULU PLUS? I am out of the loop on that.

What other normally paid services do you get for FREE?

Trying to figure out how best to add some channels in the lowest cost
method as possible.

Showtime is on Hulu which is on TIVO.

    Not sure about AMC yet.

Discovery seems to be the most difficult. There is a Discovery GO product
but I think I have to use a ROKU for that.

I made a spreadsheet of my favorite shows, their premier dates and the
networks. I have a few months to find the following:

    TLC, CNBC, AMC, Showtime, Discovery

I found a bootleg discovery running on a server in India.

As I mentioned the other day the Roamio OTA with 500 gb hard drive is $399
on the website, including lifetime service for the device.

TiVo Roamio™ OTA 1TB DVR - No Subscription Fees. Only $399‎

If you buy the $399 model, they have basically bundled the monthly
subscription into the price. Or you can buy the $150 version and pay $12/month.

Sound and image is better than on a Roku. Best picture I think I have ever
