[AFMUG] OT: Replacing NiMH with Lithium Ion

I've got a few older Siemens Gigaset phones that have rechargeable AA NiMH
batteries.  NiMH isn't terribly easy to come by locally, is it going to be
a bad idea to use rechargeable Lithium Ion AA cells instead?
