Yeah pretty cool … theatre here nearby moved to ATMOS sometime late last

While I enjoy the “theatre experience” I still much prefer to watch movies
in my home theatre setting .. besides the ridiculous cost it seems anymore
to go the movies …. For me, family of 4 going to watch a movie, have
snacks, junk food and of course popcorn it’s always about $100

IMAX is old now. The new way is to go see it is an Dolby ATMOS theater.
There are more popping up here in Chicago.

IMAX is definitely cool if you end up in a 'real' IMAX theatre. Sadly
they've diluted the brand by permitting smaller screens under the IMAX
name, AND there's no way to know for sure the IMAX screen size you'll find.

And... no spoilers please. I'm not watching it until likely Sunday late,
which is our preferred time to see new releases - it seems to be one of the
lowest-attended shows, other than perhaps mid-week.

Star Trek:. Beyond

The first thing I noticed was how ultimately large the IMAX screen is.

I also thought the speakers are incredibly loud. Maybe even louder than
Chuck mccown's personal home theatre.

The acting was supurb...the audience is very patient and of the mixed race
variety.

The local advertisements and "screen vision" promos prevented parts of the
showing from being overly boring....but just barely.

Stay tuned for further developments / breaking news. Showing starts in 25
minutes.

Maybe I'll even beat Mccown to the review..
