We planned on dismantling the site since it had never had a customer on
it so the strike could have been a two months ago. I wondered the
electrical surge had something to do with it given the damage to the
rest of the equipment.

Can't say that I've seen that happen, but I don't know that I'd blame
the connector.
As far as I can tell the UBNT, RF Armor and Arc connectors are all
pretty much exactly the same - we've been using RF Armor, for no
particular reason other than that they're the cheapest of the three.

What is everyone's preferences for shielded connectors at the
moment? We discovered at least one corroded/rusted connector last
week at a site which had taken a direct or nearly direct lightning
strike which melted pig tails as well as destroyed an omni among
other things. It was a site we bought so we don't know the
manufacturer of the connector or if it's something we installed
and it's the first one I've seen on our network. Has anyone else
seen this happen? Lately we've been using RF Armor have used
Ubiquiti shielded connectors in the past.
