I was doing something similar but the regulator chip that I used has been made EOL by the manufacturer. They have a lower voltage version but the one that will go to 60 VDC in is no longer available. I was powering Calix 844E routers from POE that originated outside the house.

I want to go from a Cat-5 to a barrel connection with an output of 12v. I’m got some PoE injectors but then I still have to step them down from 24 to 12v.
