While walking through the Louvre I saw some dickhead putting his grubby little hands all over some large African art. I scolded the little bastard and he backed off but I could tell he didn't really understand why that was inappropriate. The museum staff person nearby seemed unconcerned when informed. That place is full of valuable objects you could touch if so inclined.
