Does anybody know, if I buy a used HP DL380 Gen 7 or earlier, and it comes with Hitachi SAS drives in HP carriers, will this cause problems? I assume this is common because the original owner required the drives to be physically destroyed, and the reseller replaced the drives in the existing carriers. I know that HP went to smart carriers starting with Gen 8 that will detect non HP drives, but my question is about a G7. It would cost me at least $800 to replace the drives with new genuine HP drives, more than the server cost.
I had no trouble creating a RAID array, but I'm not sure where else to look for any issues this may be causing.
