As noise becomes a bigger issue, we would be needing micro pops and higher RX
signals… anything in the works ? Say a noise floor of -70, for 8x you need 30
snr.. So that’s –40

Anything stronger than -40 dBm can potentially cause damage to the receiver.

-55 dBm is a perfectly acceptable target level. In fact, sometimes, you’ll
want to set the target slightly higher (like -52 dBm) to overcome higher noise
levels.

I know there is ATPC to limit the rcv power at the AP, but what about at the
SM? Has anyone heard of a max acceptable rcv signal? Would -55 be too hot?

(With FSK we got used to the idea the signal could never be too hot, because
what mattered was the zero crossings.)
