In the news today there was a piece about a large steel pentagram erected by a
nativity in some public place.
Then the good ol boys hooked a chain to it and dragged it around a bit.

I was somewhat befuzzled that the local atheist felt compelled to erect the
pentagram in the first place.

Maybe history?

Actually, do you run into these atheists and others so unhappy about Jesus
displays on a daily basis in real life? I don’t. Maybe it’s a Utah thing. Or
a social media amplification thing.

Personally, what I’m sick of is the whole Santa thing. At least the Black
Friday mania seems to be burning itself out. Maybe your statue should be of
the almighty dollar, since that’s what we really worship.

And having once lived in a country with an official religion (Roman
Catholicism), I can empathize (a little bit) with people who don’t want the
government using its power or money to force a certain religion on them.
Getting all bent out of shape about a Nativity scene though is kind of crazy.
But that judge with the 10 Commandments at the courthouse I think was out of
line, how is that different than “Shariah Law”? Civil courts should use civil
law. If you want to be judged under religious law, go to church (the church of
your choice).

Even Jesus spoke about separation of church and state:

We have days on the calendar about people.

Presidents day used to be Wash’n and Linc’n bdays.

MLK day.

Casmir Pulaski day.

Columbus day.

So, why are the atheists and others so unhappy about displays on public
property about Jesus.

I doubt anyone in Illinios would get unhappy if the local park had a
Lincoln-Douglas plaque... actually Quincy had exactly that.

Public displays frequently celebrate or inform about events in history.

Our legal system has its basis in the bible, with some of the legal doctrine
based on the advise of Jesus.

He lived. He taught. He gave advice. It affected history. Just like MLK.

But on MLK day do the pentagram sculptures try to share space with MLK events?

I don’t get why the Jesus events on public property are such an insult or
affront to some people.
