The news report stated just that. The idea was that the drone could be
delivering one thing while the driver was delivering another.

Looks like they want to park in centralized location, sort and
load the drone pickup thing while it is flying around.
Yeah, did not look like a great time saver to me.

That UPS drone really seems pretty dumb... so the drive pulls up
in front of your house and sends his drone out to deliver the
package while he sits there and eats donuts waiting for it to come
back, or what?

I find it interesting that people are in a tizzy over jobs
supposedly going to Mexico and China, yet we seem to spend an
inordinate amount of time thinking about how to eliminate jobs
with things like drones. What’s so wrong about just hiring
UPS guys to deliver packages? Or meter readers to read your
meter. We want self-driving Uber cars and robot vacuums and
drones to deliver our packages and self-checkouts at the store
and bank.
In the case of feral hogs, it seems there are hunters willing
to go shoot them. But no, let’s poison them with rat poison
so you’re scared to eat the bacon.
I’m not sure why the fascination with drones for package
delivery. Is a drone going to leave the package inside my
front porch if I’m not home, or drop it on the sidewalk in the
rain? Is the pizza delivery drone going to ring the doorbell
and then hover in front of the door? Will it read the sign
that says to go around to the back door? These are all jobs
that are not going to be offshored to Mexico or China, unless
that’s where they intend to hire the drone operators.
I am all for robots that do things like welding and painting
cars. Or cutting up meat in slaughterhouses. But once there
are no UPS drivers or meter readers or grocery checkers or
bank tellers, where are our kids going to find jobs? Oh,
right, the coal mines and steel mills and iPhone factories are
coming back.

Guess I need to be more specific.. I want an Eagle with an
American flag worn as a cape on the eagle. :)
