I still remember going on a cross country skiing vacation in Yellowstone Natl Park in winter when the only way to get there was via these things called "snow coaches" made by Bombardier. And at certain curves in the road, the driver would have all the passengers get out and stand on the road, so that only the driver would be killed if the "snow coach" slipped off the side of the mountain.
These were truly horrible vehicles that looked like a cross between a snowmobile and a VW bus. I saw where the fleet was recently retired and auctioned off on the government website.
