I concur. I don't think the occasional political discussion is a bad thing, but it has certainly gotten a little out of hand at times, and I can see how it could be driving some people away. Separating politics from the general OT discussions would probably be a good idea.
Personally, I agree with others that have said the off topic discussions are one of the best parts of this list. There are a lot of smart people here and I like hearing their opinions on random topics.
