Yeah, no kidding.  Not at all sure what that pink stuff was inside them.  Did 
not taste like meat.  
I try tamales wherever I go.  Most of the time I am disappointed.  But that 
applies to most fooks that my wife has perfected.  I void warranties and 
reverse engineer other peoples stuff all the time, she does this with 
restaurant foods.  When successful we can never go back to that restaurant 
again.
