Apparently the geosynchronous satellites don’t have to deorbit clear to earth.

I was reading an article the other day about the space debris problem, in
particular these tiny satellites and the diminishing windows for launch. I
never gave it a lot of though cause space is kind of big, but really its not,
and 28k mph is kind of fast to hit anything. These tiny satellites are being
tossed up left and right, by less scrupulous entities than spacex, though they
did talk about this venture directly.

I think there should be a standards commitment to all space ventures to treat
space with the boy scout attitude of leaving it better than when you got
there... note I did not say law.

I don't know where ICBMs traverse the low earth orbit, but if SHTF it could get
hairy with nukes playing pinball off a bunch of baby satellites

All satellites are launched these days with deorbiting rockets. So,
they vaporize on the way down. Not sure what else could be done.

do all these ventures come with any long term recourse for their
environmental impact as they decay, degrade, and fail?
