802.3af provides power on two of the four pairs. Which pair is
determined by whether it is mode A or mode B.
I think the "conservative" version is mode B, since it puts the power on
pins 4/5 (+) and 7/8 (-). Mode A is pins 1/2 (+), and 3/6 (-).
A device NOT expecting power on pins 1/2 or 7/8 will likely let the
smoke out.
