We have a few of those, some of which I’ve gotten off Ebay, and even one locally that I picked up.
I wouldn’t say they hum, but maybe I didn’t notice that. There might be something off with yours if it’s really loud while on AC power. You can purchase the harness kits from vendors or Alpha I think. I’ve gotten the battery harness kit and the temperature RJ14/11 cable after the fact. The only thing I couldn’t really find extra was the network module since it’s a module that has the whole fan/wiring assembly inside.
