We face them down so if we get water in the

cat5 it runs off to the bottom of the enclosure

and not into the switch.

What is the reason for facing them down?

Am I the only one that finds facing them down infuriating?

We always face the ports down and yes, we mount in a similar
size box like that where it is flat on the backboard.

You have the ports facing up? Dang.

I'm doing similar but the ports are facing down.

Hard to find one that is deep enough to DIN mount it. We have been mounting them flush against the back
plate of enclosures (if we don't have rackmountable
enclosures at the site already). We do this for both
                bottom-of-the-tower and top-of-the-tower builds. Here
                is an example.

Life would be pretty damn perfect if they were
made outdoors (fiber and DC up the tower to feed a
                    WS).
