The product in this video is stated by the manufacturer to have a built in "micro OTDR". Such that the equipment can detect a fault and report how far down the line the fault is.

It seems useful in that you could dispatch the field tech directly to the fault location. Is there an industry standard for something like this, or is it something where you have to be vendor locked to get it?
