No on the trade-in. If it makes you feel better, you'll probably want both types of cards in most rackinjectors, since the cambium sync cards will only power the 450i and 450m, not anything else. Plus they're going to be more expensive by around $100/card.
And as far as I know the official word from cambium hasn't been very detailed, other than it works better. I know how it works, and yes, it will work better.
