Founded by Alex Lindsay, former member of Industrial Light and Magic's, producers of movies like the star wars sequels, "Rebel Unit Team", the Pixel Corps is a Guild of Media Developers with the goal of providing a community, training, and access to resources for media artists around the world. Though it provides training, the Pixel Corps is not a school. It is a production environment designed to prepare individuals for production in the shortest amount of time possible. The Pixel Corps is headquartered in the center of the new media community, San Francisco, California. With over 250 members and 20 research teams, the San Francisco Pixel Corps provides a foundation of knowledge for the rest of the Pixel Corps around the world. As part of the Pixel Corps, members become part of this growing community of artists trading High-End techniques in visual effects and media development. Only handful artists in a few effects facilities know most of these techniques. We will be having an orientation meeting on july3rd2003 at the DPI premises at 6pm. and you are welcome to come and listen in on what the program is all about.
We are also extending an invitation to come to a talk with the Alex Lindsay, who will be touring Tanzania to formally launch the pixel corps. this will be on July 22nd at the jaffery complex, formerly the korean cultural center, at 6pm. Feel free to bring a friend.
