Dear Wikimedians, As we wrap up Wiki Loves Africa 2026, it is already time to start looking ahead to the next edition!
The Wiki Loves Africa International Organizing Team is seeking input from the African Wikimedia community to help determine the theme for the 2027 edition of the contest. For 2027, we want a theme that inspires photographers, videographers, and storytellers across Africa to explore, document, and share the incredible diversity of the continent. And we want you to help us choose it! We have prepared a selection of proposed themes, each offering a different way of looking at Africa; Its people, cultures, stories, creativity, traditions, everyday life, and the many things that make the continent unique. Now it is your turn to vote! Your vote will help us identify the theme that the Wikimedia community feels is most exciting, meaningful, and inspiring for Wiki Loves Africa 2027. Cast your vote here: https://w.wiki/UG4C Voting deadline: 21 September 2026 Please take a few minutes to review the proposed themes and vote for the one(s) you would most like to see as the focus of Wiki Loves Africa 2027. Think beyond what is easy to photograph. Think about the stories we can tell, the perspectives we can bring forward, and the aspects of Africa that deserve greater visibility on Wikimedia Commons. Together, let's create another edition that encourages people across Africa to explore, create, document, and share. Thank you for being part of the Wiki Loves Africa community. We look forward to hearing your choice and seeing which theme will shape the 2027 edition! Best regards, Hilary Ogali Wiki Loves Africa Facilitator
