Mabiba Baegne is not only an African dancer, singer, and dunun player, but an
exceptional teacher. A native of the Congo, she spent her early youth touring
the world as a hand-picked member of the Congolese National Dance Company.
Mabiba's career spans over 30 years, including touring internationally as a
singer and dancer with African world beat star Salif Keita. For the past decade
she has taught and performed both dance and drumming in the U.S. In addition to
teaching her native Congolese dance and musical traditions, Mabiba has the
remarkable distinction of being a master of the dunun drums from West Africa,
is well-versed in West African dance, and has toured with Mamady Keita. If you

Fine artists, digital atists, visionary artists, poets, songwriters and
spoken word artists may display their works and / or perform for FREE on BOTH
DAYS
-- Sat April 8 and Sun April 9 as part of Aha! Majesty Weekend in the SF Bay

Visual artists can display up to four of their works on both days for FREE!
And songwriters can perform at least two songs (possibly more) both days for
FREE. There is no charge for artists to attend or display / perform at these
events.
This is not a competition or juried exhibition. It is a VISIONARY WEEKEND of
events that bring together creatives, innovators and arts appreciators from
different parts of the SF Bay area and throughout California. You will meet
other highly creative souls connected to Artists Helping Artists (Aha!)
organization.

Artists Helping Artists (Aha!) www.ArtistsHelpingArtists.org and The Creative
Line magazine are sponsoring the events on Aha! Majesty Weekend. Events
includes Majesty, Beauty and Creativity -- and interactive conversation (1 to
3pm
onSat Apr 8), Open Muse in the Redwoods -- a musical and poetic showcase (3 to
6pm on Sat Apr 8) and our big Imagination Salon and Potluck Banquet with
performances, food and highly creative presentations (1 to 5pm on Sat Apr 9) in
Santa Cruz, CA. The events occur at a wonderful location in the heart of the
redwoods of Santa Cruz, with a stage right down on the creek immersed in the
trees.
It is about connecting, co-ordinating and sharing one's work in a new region
of California. You will make many new friends from the SF Bay and other
regions. While you are in the region you can also plan to visit some of the
incredible natural beauty and various creative centers that exist in the SF Bay
area.

SIGN UP FOR FINE ARTISTS AND PERFORMERS.
There are spots available for fine artists and performers to come and display
/ perform on both days -- Sat April 8 and Sun April 9.
1) Send your request asap to display or perform to Julie Windsor at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] with name, city, art form, and any web site.
2) You will receive a confirmation back from Aha! that you are REGISTERED and
ON THE LIST to perform or display both days that weekend. There are no
costs to you to perform, display or attend events. It's FREE.
3) VISUAL ARTISTS: You will bring up to four pieces of your most visionary
stuff. You may bring easels or small grid to display your pieces. Visual art
will be displayed around the center where the events are taking place and for
view by those coming to the events. If your art pieces sell Aha! receives 20
percent of the sale price. You price your own art.
4) PERFORMERS: You will get a minimum of two songs both days. Bring your
most creative, visionary and innovative stuff. Acoustic only. No bands. Come
and meet other performers and fine artists too from various regions.
5) Artists are responsible for their own lodging. Aha! has a few spots
available to stay at the center (where the events are being held) but these
must be
booked in advance (One night is $60, two nights is $90) Includes continental
breakfast. Otherwise artists find their own lodging or stay with a friend in
the region.
6) A larger four day Majesty in the Redwoods retreat runs side by side with
this weekend. This is strictly optional for artists coming from other parts of
California and out of state and who wish to be part of the retreat. Full

Tahitian dancing is a centuries old spiritual dance form that accompanies
energetic
island drums. Workshop will focus on basic hip movements, strength, control and
isolation of hip

learn a choreographed Tahitian drum dance.
Other elements important to the dance form are fluidity, balance, body memory,
