African Language Dictionary Workshop
The Kamusi Project of the Council on African Studies at Yale is hosting a
workshop to discuss the creation of an online Kinyarwanda dictionary. The
following presentations are open to the public:
Thursday, December 14
3:30 pm, An Overview of Existing Dictionary Resources for Kinyarwanda and
Kirundi, Charles Riley, Yale Library.
4:00 pm, Aspects/Problems of Bantu Lexicography: the case of Kinyarwanda,
Geoffrey Rugege, Professor of Linguistics, Gramlbing State University.
Friday, December 15
9:30 am, kasahorow - Building infrastructure for African language Content on
the Web, Paa Kwesi Imbeah, Suuch Solutions and University of Cambridge.
10:30 am, The Inner Workings of the Kamusi Project: a technical overview of
the Internet Living Swahili Dictionary, Martin Benjamin, Yale Council on
African Studies.
1:00 pm, Roundtable Discussion: Creating an online Kinyarwanda dictionary -
editorial, design, and funding issues and options.
