When the reggae music legend, prophet, philosopher and revolutionary,
Robert Nesta Marley went to live with the Lord in heaven, the
Nigeria's musical weaver bird, the rain maker- Majek Fashek appeared
on the scene.

One of the most interesting aspect of Osita Osadebe, and one that
probably provided for him, a great wealth of inspiration was his
closeness to his local environment. After he had struck gold, he chose
to go back to his village, Atani, to live and commune with the spirits
and people of his land. Secondly he also chose to render his songs in
the Igbo language, even though he had a university degree. This is
very important in the sense that it has been argued by communication
scholars in cultural studies that African music must be performed in
an African language. The American music is not performed in Igbo,
Yoruba, or Hausa language, neither is the European music performed in
any of these Nigerian languages. Music and language are probably the
most important aspect of any people's culture.
