Anissa +1

I found some of the earlier comments rather disturbing. Cherine has great
qualities and experience and has been a valued addition to the Board. Khaled
has a great background and I am looking forward to his contribution. Dismissing
either person because they happen to come from the same region is petty. The
fact that there is a director from southern Africa also seems to be ignored,
but enough about that.

I would rather celebrate the fact that there are now three ICANN directors with
African roots and two who actually live on the continent! AFAIK the highest
number of Africans on the board at the same time.

I cannot comment about the SOIs received by the 2016 nominating committee,
however (having served on two ICANN nominating committees and having pleaded,
begged, asked and cajoled many fine people over many years to submit SOIs) in
the past there has been very limited numbers of quality candidates from Africa.

Now I live and work in Africa and there are many excellent people who would be
viable candidates for the ICANN board and would be great assets if selected.
However getting them to submit SOIs is the problem.

Instead of complaining, I suggest we get out and start asking quality
candidates to submit SOIs for the 2017 Nomcom.
