This week, security in Internet Governance headline again as large scale 
ransomware attack reportedly spreads rapidly worldwide, shutting down computers 
at corporates, power supplies, and banks across Russia, Ukraine, Spain, France, 
UK, India, and Europe and demanding $300 in bitcoins.

On cyber extremism, a senior United Nations official has called for sustained 
joint efforts to combat terrorism and welcomed a partnership initiative with 
tech giants Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter and YouTube to counter terrorism and 
violent extremism online.

On intellectual property, WIPO launched two new publications. The first is a

On digital currency, The World Economic Forum (WEF)<https://www.weforum.org/> 
published a dedicated Blockchain report detailing how the technology will flow 
into the global economy.

On e-commerce, Jack Ma's

preparing for a showdown in Southeast Asia by spending another $1 billion to 
tighten its grip on

 wich was founded in 2012 in Singapore, also operates e-commerce marketplaces

On domain name; research initiated by the Internet Corporation for Assigned 
Names and Numbers (ICANN) shows that issues such as the price of domain name 
registration, affordable internet access and policy enforcement continue to 
impact the african continent's US$52m per-year domain name market.
On infrastructure, Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd on Wednesday announced the launch 
of the Asia-Africa-Europe (AAE-1) submarine cable system.

On social media, Facebook, the world's largest social media website, has 
announced that there are now two billion people connecting and building 
communities on its platform every month.

On net neutrality, A group of small Internet service providers urged Federal 
Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai to preserve the FCC's net 
neutrality rules and the related classification of ISPs as common carriers.

The European Commission has fined Google €2.42 billion for breaching EU 
antitrust rules.
